For the second time of its existence the University of Finance and Administration decided to grant medals of merit for research development and education to its excellent academic representatives.
For the first time in its history the university granted a golden medal - to prof. PhDr. Vladimír Čechák, CSc., the emeritus professor of VŠFS and the current Vice-Rector for Strategy and Development.
The Rector granted silver medals to doc. Ing. Milan Kašík CSc., the Vice-Rector for Publishing and to doc. Radim Valenčík, CSc., the coordinator of project development of the University Research Center and the Head of the Department of Economics and International Relations.
During the ceremony all the medal winners were given laudations by significant members of the Scientific Board and also by the high university representatives. The laudation for doc. Kašík was given by Karel Havlíček, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics. The thanking speech of the awarded Milan Kašík was not only an expression of thanking but, thanks to his humour, it was also one of the top things of the whole ceremony. The laudation for doc. Valenčík was given by prof. Helísek, the Vice-Rector for Research and Development. In his speech he not only expressed a significant role of doc. Valenčík, as a prominent university academic, but he also expressed his personal friendship and respect to him. As usual, Radim Valenčík presented himself with a non-formal speech in which he stressed the necessity of mutual cooperation and communication as a key for future success.
The laudation for prof. Vladimír Čechák, the first holder of the golden medal for merit , was prepared and given by Bohuslava Šenkýřová, the Chairperson of the Scientific Board and the Rector. She stressed a high level of education of prof. Čechák, his great academic activities as well as his excellent personality. In her speech she mentioned the following: “There are people who go through VŠFS unnoticed. And there are such whose presence will be recorded in the university history for ever. This is the case of professor Vladimír Čechák”. In his thanking speech prof. Čechák mentioned not only serious things but he was also able to show his own humour and he kept on top of things.
The ceremonies of our university always have an extraordinary ambience. The ceremonies of the Scientific Board when awarding medals of merit for developing science and education belong to the most significant ones. The photographic reportage and all the speeches will be presented in the September publication of the Xadonia magazine.
We wish to all the three laureates a lot of creative power while staying a support to our university.
