“EU Financial Markets: Current State & Future Perspectives“ international conference took place on May 25-26, 2017, at the VSFS Congress Centre in Prague. The event, the 8th of its kind since 2003, was held under the auspices of Tomáš Nidetzký, member of the CNB Bank Council.
The conference was attended by some fifty experts and university scholars, with twenty of them presenting their papers.
The morning part of the conference, hosted by VSFS prorector Petr Budinský, included speeches by Tomáš Nidetzký and a lecture by Bruce Gahir on the ethical responsibility of accounting staff on EU financial markets. In the first block, Vladislav Pavlát (VSFS) reviewed and summed up the former seven VSFS conferences on financial markets, suggesting ways of enhancing their quality. Božena Chovancová from EUBA (with co-authors V. Malacká and M. Dorocáková) analysed the impact of changes in economic structures on stock markets, and Małgorzata Dziembała (Economic University in Katowice) reported on the contribution of a cohesive EU policy to better competitiveness. Finally, Petr Budinský (VSFS) analysed CDS prices and their relation to changes in ratings. Lubomír Civín (BIVS) gave a detailed analysis of financialization in relation to globalization.
Two other conference topics were on the conference agenda in the afternoon. T
The second conference day, hosted by Otakar Schlossberger, head of the VSFS Finance Department, dealt with the topics of human resources, the duties of financial intermediaries, and with that of Brexit. The concluding discussion was focused on ways of furthering financial literacy.
The next VSFS International Scientific Conference on Financial Markets is scheduled for 2019.
