The meeting of university rectors and presidents offered the first private economic university numerous opportunities to expand international relations.
In recent days, Prague became a venue of an extraordinary event as the University of Finance and Administration hosted the meeting of IAUP (International Association of University Presidents) Executive Committee. It was the first time in a 50-year-old history of this organization that this meeting was held in Central Europe. One of the high points of the meeting was the lecture by Ramu Damodaran, UN Deputy on interconnecting UN activities (UN celebrates 70 years of their existence next year) with IAUP. Representatives of Czech Universities also received an invitation to this lecture. The meeting of IAUP Executive Committee in Prague was organized under the auspices of Mr. Miloš Zeman, President of the Czech Republic.
The event was completed with a festive gala-evening where the rector of the university received a certificate from Toyoshi Satow, IAUP President, in appreciation of a perfect organization of this meeting. IAUP representatives also prepared a certificate for Mr. President to express gratitude for the provided support. The certificate was received by Mr. Jiří Běťák from the Office of the President of the Czech Republic. The Gala Dinner was also attended by Arnošt Marks, Deputy Vice-President of the Government and Director of Department of Science, Research and Innovation.
One of the key benefits of the whole event for the university, in addition to signing the triple-party agreement between VŠFS, CityU and CUFE on Friday (see previous report), also included signing other significant documents. VŠFS concluded the Memorandum of Cooperation in the area of student/researcher exchange and a joint research with Centro Universitàrio IESB from Brazil, and the contract on cooperation in the area of bilateral student/researcher exchange, a joint research and participation in joint international programmes and projects with Fairleigh Dickinson University from the USA.
Furthermore, discussions on cooperation in the area of student/researcher exchange and joint scientific-research projects started with universities:
- Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, Mexico
- Cyber University, Korean Republic
- Cetys, Mexico
- Kyung Hee University, Korean Republic
- Solomon University, the Ukraine
