16th Annual International Scientific Conference Human Capital and Investment in Education
The conference Human Capital and Investment in Education was traditionally held at the University of Finance and Administration on 10 October 2013 in the Anton Siekel Congress Centre. The opening ceremony was held by the Rector of the University Bohuslav Šenkýřová . In the morning thematic block Competence and Educational Inequality - the main results of the OECD PIAAC project , which was moderated by expert guarantor of the conference Radim Valenčík , the papers were presented by: P.Matějů: Formation of Human Capital : Social Origin, Gender , Education and Competence in the Light of New Data; J . Večerník , M. Mysíková , P. Matějů : Competence: the Missing Link in Explaining Income Inequality in the Czech Republic; P. Anýžová : Evolution of Educational Inequalities in the Czech Republic in the Light of Data from the OECD Projects SIALS A PIAAC; N. Simonová, T. Katrňák , L. Fónadová: From Differentiation to Diversification: Theory Test of Maximally Maintained Inequality and Effectively Maintained Inequality in Czech Secondary Education in the First Decade of the 21st Century .
Gradually there were two English sections, which were moderated by I. Jindřichovská and she also performed together with other speakers. Interesting papers on topics such as: Reforms in Education in the Context of Other Reforms of Social Investment and Social Insurance Systems in the Czech Republic and other countries, How to Finance Universities? With Tuition or without it? Is Tuition a Crime on Young People or the Rescue of Higher Education? What is and what is not Tuition? were presented in the afternoon sessions by a number of experts including academics from the University of Finance and Administration.
During the day a press konference was held. The whole event had a great media coverage for professional and general public.
