In April 30, 2013 there was presentation ceremony of the Prize awarded by the Chairwoman of the Czech Statistics Authority and the Rector of Vysoká škola ekonomická in Prague. It was a pedagogue and member of the Scientific Council of VŠFS, prof. Ing. Lubomír Cyhelský, DrSc.who became the first laureate of this prize in its history. The prize for excellent merits and contribution in the area of national and international statistics was presented by prof. Ing. Iva Ritschelová, CSc. and prof. Ing. Richard Hindls, CSc., dr.h.c.
Mr. Lubomír Cyhelský published more than 200 pieces of work out of which several of them are exceptionally successful popularizations of statistics. He gave a range of scientific lectures at home and abroad and currently he teaches doctorands.
„His personality is a precious mixture of not only a pedagogue and a scientist recognized by several generations, but also a very rare, human and tolerant person,“ stated the Chairwoman of ČSÚ.
