On Saturday, the 26th of May, 2012, the first football tournament in history for the Cup of the University of Finance and Administration took place in the hall of TJ Sokol in Vršovice. The tournament was opened with an introductory speech of Bohuslava Šenkýřová, the university rector, who became the first successful scorer of the tournament when she shot a symbolic goal from a penalty.
The favourite known from the beginning of the tournament
After the strenuous fights among the basic groups, the first eight teams went through to quarterfinals. Unfortunately, the team of the University of Finance and Administration was missing among the proceeding teams.
The CCCP team with its precise teamwork outshined other teams which were quite even in the course of the qualifying part of the tournament.
In the end, the team "Sborná" eliminated the teams MaWall (2:0) and VŠ Liga with consummate skill and went through to finals. It was faced by another strong team – Bič Boží. Despite the fact that Bič Boží, the second finalist, was after two difficult matches with the teams Dream Killers (1:0) and QWERTY gaming (2:0), it was a close and worthy rival for the favourite. Thanks to the excellent hits of the goalkeeper of Bič Boží (who was announced the best player of the tournament at the end) the score stayed even for a long time. In the second part of the match Bič Boží was already at a disadvantage and "Sborná" gained the upper hand by scoring goals. After the final whistle the score stood at 3:1 in favour of the CCCP team. The team VŠ Liga took third place after beating the team QWERTY gaming 3:2 in a dramatic fight.
The VŠFS team did not start the tournament very well.It had a bad luck and lost its first match against the team UNYP Blazers 0:1. In the next match it met with the CCCP team. Despite its seemingly improved performance, it did not manage to overcome the pressure of the future winners and it lost 1:4. We could see its further improvement in the fight with the team Qwerty gaming in which Tomáš Vaclík and Jakub Brabec from Sparta played. VŠFS was leading for a long time but the professionals showed their strength at the end and the match scored even. In its last match VŠFS played against the well coordinated Bič Boží team. In order to proceed VŠFS needed to win. But in the last seconds of the match the hit frame of the rival's goal sent our team to fight for the last but one place. In a swiftly played match for the 9th place VŠFS won against young players of the team Bez Šance (4:1).
