After two years VŠFS Cup Owner revealed - Grammar School Chodovická

On Friday, 27th March 2015, the second year of floorball tournament for high schools to win the Cup of the University of Finance and Administration took place in the sports hall of Tatran Střešovice. Bank Academy was one of the seven schools that were competing in mostly tough battles. Compared to the previous year, Bank Academy improved its score but it still was not good enough to win a medal.

Despite the flu outbreak that kept changing dates of the tournament, the participants handled the situation without any difficulty. Floorball is simply a hit among high school students. In total, 8 teams were registered, competing as part of two four-member teams. In the end, one team did not arrive in Střešovice, which is why the size of group B decreased to three members only. Each of them thus won three points in the table for the victory by default 3:0. Group A started in tough battles; it was clear that Business Academy Krupkovo náměstí and Grammar School Educanet will be the favourites of the tournament. On the other hand, players of Entrepreneurial Academy had to drink from the cup of bitterness since they did not win a single game and in the last game they even conceded 11 goals. At around 1pm, the equality of points made it obvious that a score would have to decide about those continuing in group A and B. The tournament was eventually left by the aforementioned Entrepreneurial Academy, SOU Gastronomy and Business and Christian Grammar School.

The game continued with semi-finalists. The winner of group A – Business Academy Krupkovo náměstí competed with the second one in group B, which was Bank Academy. Bank Academy was even winning 1:0; nonetheless, they failed to stay in the lead and were eventually defeated by the favoured opponent 2:4. The second semi-final was marked by the battle of two grammar schools. Again, this ended up as a victory for the favourite of Grammar School Chodovická. Players in red outfits chose a good strategy and were playing a precise and focused game during the whole time of the tournament. Strong-willed and ambitious Grammar School Educanet was eventually defeated 4:2. The battle for the bronze could be called a fight of the survivors. Both teams came out onto the field quite tired and slightly nervous. In the end, the bronze was won by Grammar School Educanet. The players of Bank Academy were thus left with a „Potato medal“; however, we need to note that the team improved its score compared with the previous year.

The final between OA Krupkovo náměstí and Grammar School Chodovická was thrilling till the very last moment. In the basic game time, both teams ended in a draw 1:1. The winner was not even decided by the first series of three separate offensive actions; therefore we had to wait patiently who will be luckier in the subsequent shoot-out called „sudden death“. In the end, luck was with Grammar School Chodovická that lifted up the Winner´s Cup above the head.

The whole event saw a friendly atmosphere, respect and outstanding high-school floorball. We hope that the participants were enjoying this day and we look forward to our next friendly meeting.
