The Rector of University of Finance and Administration Bohuslava Šenkýřová has been re-elected to the Executive Committee of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP).
She entered into her second term in office on 11-14 June 2014 being appointed for the next three years (2014-2017). The appointment took place during the prestigious international IAUP Triennial Conference, held in Yokohama, Japan, at the end of which the newly elected executive committee met for the first working meeting. Bohuslav Šenkýřová is the first representative of the Czech Republic in the leadership of IAUP.
An important part of the conference was the invitation to the IAUP Executive Committee Semi Annual Meeting, which will be held for the first time in the history of the organization in Prague, September 12 – 14, 2014. About 100 chief executives from higher education institutions from around the world will take this opportunity to visit the Czech Republic. During the event the participants will also meet representatives of the Czech academic sphere.
IAUP (founded in 1964) is an association of university chief executives from higher education institutions from over 100 countries around the world. Membership is limited to those individuals who serve as presidents, rectors or vice-chancellors at regionally accredited colleges or universities. Its main mission is to continually improve the quality of higher education and strengthen the importance of universities as presenters and promoters of international cooperation and communication between the world powers and the countries of the Third World. Through its bodies and active membership in the world's major institutions (such as UNESCO or the number of multinational foundations), IAUP also performs as an intermediary in the elimination of world conflicts, poverty reduction and improvement of living standards in developing countries. The implementation tool of the IAUP strategic vision is the learning process and cooperation between universities worldwide in terms of the quality of teaching, scientific research projects and communication at the regional level.
